The impacts of climate change will not be borne equally or fairly, between rich and poor nations, women and men, and older and younger generations. Recently, there has been a growing focus on climate justice, which looks at the climate crisis through a human rights lens. How can we address the climate emergency in a way that is fair to those who have done the least to cause it and create a better future for everyone?
Marcus Taylor is an Associate Professor in the Department of Global Development Studies at Queen’s University, Canada. He has researched and written on questions of climate change adaptation and rural development with a focus on south India. He is the author of “The Political Ecology of Climate Change Adaptation” (Routledge, 2015) and is a contributing author to the forthcoming IPCC Sixth Assessment Report, Climate Change 2021: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability.
