A rapid expansion of renewable sources of electricity such as wind and solar is essential to addressing climate change and energy justice. But who should own, finance and operate these facilities?  This talk looks at the debate between public and private renewable electricity, with a focus on the problems of privatization and alternative forms of democratic public ownership.

David McDonald is Professor of Global Development Studies at Queen’s University, and Director of the Municipal Services Project, a global research initiative that unites academics, activists and practitioners engaged in debates around equitable and sustainable public services.
